Patty Cake

Patty Ann, or Patty Cake, as we sometimes call her now, has been at the Hound Hotel for almost a week now. She gets an A for her behavior so far. Patty is a superb greyhound. She is friendly, respectful, beautifully behaved, and such a pleasure to have around the house. We haven't had a track dog this easy for a while. She has been a little reserved for the first week, but is now integrating herself into the family. She loves people and loves pets, but has been a little nervous up until today. That is normal. She is now getting used to the idea of being in a home and is learning to enjoy all the benefits of that. She has spent plenty of time this evening sniffing the grass and just being with the family on the deck. She seems to like it a lot.
If you are a potential first time greyhound owner reading this blog, then you should consider looking at Patty Ann. Your first greyhound is always the toughest, as they have no hound role model. The secret to the Hound Hotel is that we have the resident greyhounds, and they most of the work for us. They teach the newbie what to do and when to do it. Patty has it all down already, and she didn't need much training anyway. She is a good one.
I'll let you in on another little greyhound secret too. Greyhounds are pretty big dogs and most people don't know much about them. They are very athletic and muscular, and look like they could tear people apart. You may walk down the street, as we have, and people cross to the other side of the street. People don't know that they are the friendliest dogs around. That isn't always a bad thing. You can take a nice walk with your dog and nobody will bother you.
Patty is an A+ dog, and she will make a great addition to any home. If you would like to meet Patty, please contact Denise Davis.

Patty Ann learns the stairs

Patty Ann has been at the Hound Hotel for three days now and she is doing a great job as a foster dog. It took her all of 15 minutes of stair training to learn the stairs. Two trips up and two trips down is all that it took. Then she was off on her own up and down the stairs. Patty has had no accidents in the house and we have been giving her full run of the house while we have been gone. No problems at all. She a superbly behaved greyhound. She would be a terrific first greyhound for someone or a terrific addition to any family's greyhound pack. We aren't sure if she is small animal safe yet. She has a little bit of an alpha streak that will probably come out a little more with time, but we don't anticipate any issues with her. She is a good one. If you would like to meet Patty Ann, please contact Denise Davis.

Dutch Patty Ann

Dutch Patty Ann, or just Patty Ann, has come to stay at the Hound Hotel. Patty hails from the Sunshine State where she did her racing, and has now made the trip up the coast to the Free State of Maryland. There are some dogs that you know you are really going to like as soon as you meet them. Patty Ann is one of those dogs. She is a really friendly, confident, and outgoing greyhound. She is three years old so she is done with her puppy days, and has matured to the point that she is friendly and energetic but not hyperactive at all. She is very well behaved and is getting along very well with the resident hounds. She is eating very well and already knows which food bowl is hers. She should be a very pleasant greyhound to have around the house. We didn't bother crating her last night as we didn't think she would need that. She slept in our room next to the resident hounds and didn't make a sound all night. We will be doing a little stair training today but other than that, she is ready for her future family any time. If you would like to meet Patty Ann, please contact Denise Davis.
