Still Waiting

Nessa is still waiting for her forever family. It is a little hard to believe that she hasn't been snapped up yet. Nessa is as good as a greyhound gets. She is a beautiful dog, perfectly behaved, and friendly as all get out. She has plenty of pep to her but she also knows how to relax. She is an all purpose hound that will make her future family wonder how they ever lived without her. No, she isn't two years old. So what? Nessa deserves a family just as much as any other hound, and she will earn her place in her future home. Need someone to sleep next to your bed with one eye open? Nessa fits the bill. Food Coma

Nessa is still hanging out at the Hound Hotel and she is doing a terrific job as a foster dog. She is pretty much like one of the resident hounds at this point. She is a superbly behaved dog, and is all kinds of fun to play with. She knows exactly when treat time is in the evenings and speaks up to let me know if I am so much as a minute late. She is an A+ hound. The weather is getting warmer so we plan on having some fun with her in the yard this week. We'll get out the stopwatch and get some lap times on her as she runs the backyard racetrack. Above is a photo of her after dinner. She is completely sacked out in a food coma with our boy Abe. Nessa can roo!

We learned a funny thing about Nessa today. If you get her very excited, she will roo. I learned this when I had all the hounds around me and I was petting them all, getting them a little excited. She suddenly put her head back and began to roo. It was hilarious. Our dogs don't do that, so it was really funny to see her do that. Nessa has been here for a week now and she is doing great. She is an A+ dog. She is perfectly behaved, and we are having no issues at all with her. She just turned seven, but she has plenty of spunk left in her. She would like nothing better than to go on brisk walks and play in yard with her future family. She has learned our family routine quickly and seem just like one of the resident hounds already. Nessa settles in

Nessa has been hanging out at the Hound Hotel for a couple of days now and pretty much has the daily routine down. It took her all of one day to master the stairs, and now she goes up and down them like an old pro. She is a superbly behaved hound and she has the full run of the house already. She doesn't need a crate and she always wants to be near the family. She is a very loyal companion who will be a welcome addition to any family, providing you don't have small animals. When she came here, we were told that she had been a great racer at the track. I looked up her record, and she sure was. She was quite the pro athlete in her day. Nessa and I spent the evening last night spinning stories of our former athletic greatness. She told me about the time she came up on the inside rail, kicking dirt in the boy's faces, laughing her way to victory. I told her about the time I sank the three-pointer at the final buzzer to win the state championship. Okay, okay, I never sank a three-pointer at the buzzer, but I guy can dream can't he? Shaq or Peyton Manning probably won't be hanging out at your house, but Nessa is one pro athlete who would be happy to hang out with you every day. Nessa!

Our previous foster dog, McBride, was adopted and she is doing great in her new home. That freed up a spot at the Hound Hotel and our newest foster dog, Nessa, has arrived. Nessa is a seven year old female that has been returned to us due to no fault of her own. Her previous home had two cats and a small dog, and Nessa isn't small animal safe. They tried to make it work for a very long time because Nessa is such a good hound, but finally had to bring her back. She is completely housetrained and used to living in a home. She didn't know how to do the stairs when she came here yesterday, but has already learned how to go up the stairs by herself, and down the stairs with just a little help. I suspect that by later today the stairs will no longer be a problem at all for her. She is a very affectionate girl who wags her tail all the time. She slept quietly through the night last night in our room with us and the resident hounds. I don't think we will have any trouble with her at all. What do we call this dog?

Mcbride? McNugget? McGriddle? McBrindle? I really don't know what to call this dog, officially named McBride. She is a little on the small side so McNugget fits her, but she is also a beautiful brindle dog, so McBrindle also works. Either way, this is turning out to be a fun fostering experience. McGriddle taught herself the stairs on her first full day here and she has acclimated as if she were a resident hound. McNugget sleeps with the family in our room at night and knows the morning routine....alarm goes off, jumps on foster dad, runs downstairs, chows down her breakfast, goes outside to do her business, comes inside and back to sleep. Good dog. She has the run of the house and we don't worry about her...with the small exception of the library book that she ate when she got her muzzle off while we were out. I guess the dog really did eat our homework. How did that happen? Beats me. She is a smart one. McBrindle is a very friendly, confident, relaxed for her age hound and she is a welcome guest at the Hound Hotel. She will make a terrific addition to someone's family. McBride has arrived!

Our newest foster greyhound, McBride, arrived today. We have spent the afternoon with her and are very impressed with her. She passed her first two foster tests with flying colors...drinking water and eating. Fosters are often stressed and we have to be careful to make sure they are getting water. That has been no problem for McBride. She found the water bowl right away and has been drinking steadily all afternoon. Next is food. New fosters are often too stressed to eat well. Again not a problem for McBride. She ate her dinner like a horse. That says a lot about her. She is a confident, well adjusted greyhound that is acclimating to her new environment very well. She is very friendly and curious and she wants to check everything out. She has already counter surfed a couple of times, as any good greyhound will do! She is a good one and we will post updates as we learn more about her. As for now, I think I will hang out with her as she is sacked out on her doggie bed.
