Natty Boh-Adopted!

Our little friend, Natalie, better known as Natty Boh, has been adopted. She was spoken for a few weeks ago and her new family has picked her up and she is in her forever home. We couldn't be happier for her. Natty Boh has quite the personality and will make a great addition to their family. We wish her all the best. Happy trails Natty, we hope to see you at the annual picnic this summer!

Natty Boh is a Klepto!

Natty Boh, or Natalie, has graduated to that point that she is beginning to steal things around the house. That means that she is getting more comfortable as a retired hound and is becoming more curious. That is a good sign and is perfectly normal. She will grow out of that after a few weeks and realize that her dog toys are better than other things. She has learned a lot about being a retired hound, and seems to like it a lot. She has learned the daily routine and is no trouble to have around the house. She still isn't fully housetrained yet, but we are working on that. It usually takes a little time with a dog so young. The very young ones can be a little stubborn at first, but they eventually get the idea. It is all part of the learning process. Natalie is a good one and some family is going to be very lucky to get her. We also learned yesterday that she smiles. She got a little excited and flashed a smile at us. We broke out laughing when she did that. She has quite a fun personality on her and is a lot of fun to play with. If you would like to meet Natty Boh, please contact Denise Davis at Greyhound Rescue.

Natalie is learning the ropes

Natalie has been at the Hound Hotel for 4 days now and has learned a great deal. She has mastered the stairs and knows the daily routine already. She goes straight to her food bowl and eats all her food at mealtime. She likes to play in the yard and hang out on a soft doggie bed with the family in the evenings. Natalie is surprisingly calm for a dog as young as she is. We expect that they will be a little wild at first at that age straight off the track, but she has been very well behaved. That is not to say that she doesn't have any spunk to her, because she does. As she matures and gets more comfortable in her foster home, her personality will continue to come out. She is going to turn out to be a good one. She'll be great for walks and runs at the dog park, and she will be a terrific companion. We can't say for sure if she is cat safe. It is a little tough to determine that with her being so young and new to her situation. She does seem calm enough that with the proper training, she would probably be ok with a cat, but you never really know until the dog is around a real cat. She doesn't bother our parrot, which is a good sign though. If you would like to meet Natalie, please contact Denise Davis.

Welcome Natalie!

Natalie, or as we have already nicknamed her, Natty Boh, has arrived at the Hound Hotel. Natalie is a young one, having been born on July 1st, just two years ago. She is also a little one. She could almost fit in your pocket. She is a really friendly little girl that is already wagging her tail all the time. She is a very dark brindle, one of the most beautiful we have seen for a long time. We think she is going to be a really good dog. She has all the makings of a superstar dog. Being so young, she will need a little guidance, but other than that, she is good to go. We can't say too much about her now, as we just picked her up today, however we will provide updates on her in the coming days. For now, just enjoy her pictures. The pictures were taken when she laid down in a home for the very first time.

Patty Cake

Patty Ann, or Patty Cake, as we sometimes call her now, has been at the Hound Hotel for almost a week now. She gets an A for her behavior so far. Patty is a superb greyhound. She is friendly, respectful, beautifully behaved, and such a pleasure to have around the house. We haven't had a track dog this easy for a while. She has been a little reserved for the first week, but is now integrating herself into the family. She loves people and loves pets, but has been a little nervous up until today. That is normal. She is now getting used to the idea of being in a home and is learning to enjoy all the benefits of that. She has spent plenty of time this evening sniffing the grass and just being with the family on the deck. She seems to like it a lot.
If you are a potential first time greyhound owner reading this blog, then you should consider looking at Patty Ann. Your first greyhound is always the toughest, as they have no hound role model. The secret to the Hound Hotel is that we have the resident greyhounds, and they most of the work for us. They teach the newbie what to do and when to do it. Patty has it all down already, and she didn't need much training anyway. She is a good one.
I'll let you in on another little greyhound secret too. Greyhounds are pretty big dogs and most people don't know much about them. They are very athletic and muscular, and look like they could tear people apart. You may walk down the street, as we have, and people cross to the other side of the street. People don't know that they are the friendliest dogs around. That isn't always a bad thing. You can take a nice walk with your dog and nobody will bother you.
Patty is an A+ dog, and she will make a great addition to any home. If you would like to meet Patty, please contact Denise Davis.
